Will Detlefsen (Artistic Director) Will created MultiPurposeRoom in the summer of 2010. With MPR, Will directed Televise THIS!, BUILDINGS., Harold Pinter’s The Birthday Party, and is currently developing YEAR of the HIPPO. Additionally Will has directed Thornton Wilder’s Happy Journey, XIX written by The TEAM’s Jessica Almasy, and Authentic Lesbian Cuisine written by Jeremy Hersh. She has appeared in new plays, old plays, self directed pieces, performance art, open mics, and also maybe some youtube videos. Favorite past projects have been with directors Richard Foreman, Kevin Khulke, Rachel Chavkin, filmmaker Ry Russo Young and also radio play she wrote and performed with friends called “The Odd Hour” at the Experimental Theater Wing. She currently works in the Art Department for the popular TV series Boardwalk Empire.

He has performed with Atlantic Theatre Company, Radio City Music Hall, HERE Arts, La MaMa, The Guggenheim Museum, Prague Fringe Festival, Incubator Arts, and The Odyssey Project and collaborated with Witness Relocation, Trusty Sidekick, New Victory Theatre, and Liz Swados. Will is a founding member of MultiPurposeRoom and a teaching artist for New Victory Theatre. Will is currently developing a show about Sarah Bernhardt. In 2010 under the direction of Elizabeth Swados, Tess performed in the NYU Reality Show at Radio City Music Hall. She continued her work with Swados in the NYU Mainstage Marat/Sade and in Jewish Books Cooking. Tess also acted in the Classical Studio’s productions of Twelfth Night and Cymbeline. She is also working with sketch comedy group, POP Roulette, which performs monthly at the PIT.

She began in dance where she attended classes at Broadway Dance Center and was a part of the Synthesis Dance Project, a modern dance company led by Tracy Stanfield. She attended the Professional Performing Arts School while she auditioned and performed in the off-Broadway musical The American Girl Review and TV shows like theSopranos. She is now a full time singer/songwriter. She holds a BFA in drama from NYU Tisch and has just completed her debut EP. ArianaAndTheRose.com

He is currently assistant stage manager for Talking Band’s “Obskene,” and recently stage-managed Jean-Claude van Itallie’s “Confessions and Conversation.” Recent acting credits include, “The Window II: 4 Alice” (dir. Ana Mărgineanu), “The Birthday Party (MPR), “Whispering Well” (self directed and collaborative dance piece), “The Walk Across America for Mother Earth” (dir. Paul Zimet and Taylor Mac), “Coyote and Uncle Dale’s Sack of Stones” (dir. Karmenlara Ely), “Happy Journey to Trenton and Camden” (dir. Will Detlefsen). Graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, ETW (2012).

Last spring he wrote, directed and performed in his own play, “LeVeL“. He joined MultiPurposeRoom after starring in the company’s production of “The Birthday Party” last winter. His work as a performer, technical director, graphic artist and photographer has allowed him to collaborate with numerous downtown theater artists including John Jesurun, Simone Forti, and Richard Foreman. He currently lives in Brooklyn, NY.

He graduated in 2011 from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, after studying at The Meisner Studio, RADA, The Experimental Theater Wing, and Stonestreet Studios. His work includes 90210, the independent films Dog it Down and Letters, as well as the web-series In Development. Noah is a founding member of MultiPurposeRoom, and spreads the MPR love around on the West Coast.
